The CPHI Americas event was highly productive and busy once again this year, filled with valuable meetings with both long-standing colleagues and new connections.
As economic conditions tighten, CDMOs are increasingly focused on competing for clients while enhancing the value of their services. At the same time, product owners are actively seeking ways to reduce development timelines and costs. In this environment, Procegence’s rapid product and process development services are well positioned to address these needs and create value for all stakeholders. Our “in silico-first” approach to scale-up and tech transfer generated significant interest among fellow attendees.
Compared to CPHI Americas 2025, the conversation mix shifted noticeably, with small molecules and drug-device combination products dominating over biologics. Follow-up discussions this year centered more on small molecule development and combination products, a contrast to last year's engagements, which led to collaborations in peptide synthesis and rAAV production.
Another notable evolution was in the perception of AI and ML applications. Last year was marked by strong optimism (at times bordering on hype) around AI’s potential to rapidly transform product and process development. This year, however, companies showed a more nuanced understanding of both the opportunities and limitations of these tools. There is growing recognition that organizations must address data readiness to effectively leverage AI, while approaches like mechanistic modeling remain more valuable, particularly in cases involving data scarcity and scale-dependent phenomena.
We are excited to continue supporting the industry as it evolves across modalities and technologies, leveraging the breadth of our services and capabilities.
If you were unable to attend CPHI Americas 2026, feel free to reach out to us to schedule a discussion. We look forward to connecting with friends and colleagues at the global CPHI Milan 2026 this October.
